The night auditor feeds the information from all charges into the software up until the point of closing out the day. At some point during the night, the computer program starts the new day and is ready for the next day's transactions.

This function includes booking room reservations, handling cash, answering the phone, checking guests in and out, greeting guests and solving problems. Before starting the shift, the auditor will check with security and the day manager to learn about quests with requests or problems and to find out about any events that are still ongoing in the hotel.
This work requires long overnight hours, standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. A typical night shift would be 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m and might include weekend jobs and holidays. Stress can occur due to guest issues and computer problems.
